■Introduction of Tohoku University Technology In the recycling smelting of iron scrap, elements such as Cu, Ni, and Sn, which are difficult to remove due to oxidation, are referred to as tramp elements, and they hinder the recycling rate of iron raw materials (scrap). In particular, Cu is expected to become a bottleneck in iron recycling. In response, the inventors have developed a technology in their prior patent No. 7515880 that selectively electro-deposits only Cu ions from molten iron onto the cathode. However, the examples provided in that patent had a Cu composition in the metal of only a few percent, which is far from practical operations, and since sulfides were added, desulfurization was necessary in practical operations. The present invention is a technology that achieves copper removal at a Cu composition in the metal comparable to practical operations without the addition of sulfides, by adjusting reaction forms and atmospheres.
